Day 47

December 17, 2018: We Don’t Have The Insight

If you don’t know something, it’s a good idea to ask someone that knows. If you wander around without knowledge while acting like you know that thing, you will pay a steep price. “I don’t know” isn’t a bad thing to say as long as you are willing to learn. Insight is a wonderful tool/weapon. Wield with care. #MyBlackOutPoems @centreforarttapes

Day 46

December 16, 2018: Your Broke-ass Isn’t Loving

When you love someone, your sense of reasoning when it comes to them is skewed. It’s kinda fucked up but it is beautiful when you love someone that loves you too. #MyBlackOutPoems @centreforarttapes

Day 45

December 15, 2018: Take Advantage!

My granny would always say “Make good use of the opportunities you are given because you might never get them again.” As always, she is right! #MyBlackOutPoems @centreforarttapes

Day 43

December 13, 2018: Whitman Regretted Apologizing

If you are not sorry, why apologise? A fake apology is worse than saying nothing at all. #MyBlackOutPoems @centreforarttapes

Day 42

December 12, 2018: Speaking My Truth For The First Time Ever

It is so refreshing and liberating when the truth comes out. #MyBlackOutPoems @centreforarttapes

Day 41

December 11, 2018: Stories Of Beatings And Deepening Frustration

Every month, almost without fail, this girl gets the shit beaten out of her, in some cases, literally. The cops come, take her away and she comes back but nothing really happens to the guy because she doesn’t press charges and is always “running into things and falling because she’s clumsy”. They make up, they seem happy and then it starts again, a shout her, a scream there, a push here, a shove there and you guessed it, she “ran into something and hurt herself” and the cops have to come to take care of her. It’s a fucked up cycle and like that video Babyface and Stevie Wonder made for their song “How Come, How Long” one day it will be a body being carried out in a bodybag. #MyBlackOutPoems @centreforarttapes

Day 40

December 10, 2018: Privacy Law Oversees The Legal Expert

I am not a lawyer but I do understand privacy. I also have a bit of knowledge of the level of connection we have in the world today to know that privacy, true privacy is a myth. If you have something on your phone or online, should someone or people truly want to see that thing, they might have to sweat a bit, but they will get to it. My advice, treat your online existence as if you live in the world of 1984 and Big Brother is always watching because… they are. #MyBlackOutPoems @centreforarttapes

Day 39

December 9, 2018: A Fast Moving Fire Was Ignited By Heat

The people I surround myself with say a lot about me. If we are not pulling each other towards our goals, if we are not helping each other become better people, all we are doing is wasting each others time. I am happy that the people close to me ignite the fire that propels me to be better, to create and to keep growing. I hope I do the same for them. #MyBlackOutPoems @centreforarttapes

Day 38

December 8, 2018: A Slap In The Face

When a person disappoints you, it sucks, it hurts but you have to accept it and move on or you’ll be stuck in a negative loop; one that will take you forever to get out of. It’s a slap in the face, wipe it off and move on. The person is human and human beings mess up from time to time. #MyBlackOutPoems @centreforarttapes
